Ashlee Simpson Says "Bye" to Red
She Makes a Major Change
Ashlee Simpson has decided to go brunette! The Chicago girl has toned down her fiery red hair with dark high color--flashback time. I think the color was in preparation for her role as Roxie on Broadway, but the bigger question is... do you like it?
Ashlee Simpson made me think of a huge mistake a lot of us make when we go dark--the overdye! This shudder-causing issue is really common when you pick up black or deep chestnut hair dye, and it can wash out your winter look almost immediately.
If you've decided to go dark, and went a little overboard, you might want to check out these solutions for lifting the color as much as you can:
*Consider Color Oops. The website might be cringe-worthy, but countless numbers of my dye-fiend friends swear by it. Be sure to read the instructions, because it can cause bleaching effects. You can get it in drugstores liek Walgreen's.
*Taking out the dish soap, like Dawn, is a great way to pull out dye from your hair. For each wash you do, be sure to drench your hair in conditioner, including the leave-in formula, to counteract the oil that's stripped out of your hair. Clarifying shampoos are a safe bet as well.
*Go to a salon for a free consultation, and then have the colorist use a color remover to bring your tresses back to a natural state. The color molecules will become so small that they simply wash away.
Have you ever had to lift color from your freshly-dyed hair? Do you have any tips?
