She got the boot from Melrose Place, but is Ashlee Simpson's career about to be revived? Word is, Ashlee is wanted for Nicole Richie's new upcoming sitcom. Nicole and Ashlee are already friends, getting together for playdates with their young ones. And how nice to offer your friend a role in your brand new show!
I just hope Ashlee's acting skills are a bit more impressive in Nicole Richie's new show than they were on Melrose Place. And that Heather Locklear doesn't somehow come around and ruin it all for her! But according to a source, "Nicole adores Ashlee, and she truly believes in her talent." Honestly, I didn't think her acting was all that bad in Melrose; she's just a bit new to the scene. And she seems to be doing amazingly well on Broadway in Chicago, so she clearly has some skills.
And it's true when they say, "that's what friends are for." According to the Enquirer, "With few other job prospects on the horizon, Ashlee - who desperately wants to establish herself as an actress - was feeling down until Nicole Richie stepped up and promised: ‘I've got your back. What are girlfriends for?'" And now Nicole is having writers craft a co-star role for Ashlee. How sweet!
Ahem, I kind of wish I had a friend who was producing television shows. But I have to admit I'm pretty excited to see Ashlee attempt to revive her television career. Not that I wasn't already excited enough for Nicole's show!
