Avril Lavigne Asks Court To Deny Alimony
Avril Lavigne officially filed for divorce from Deryck Whibley on Wednesday.
Avril Lavigne appeared before a Los Angeles judge on Wednesday to finally file the papers that will begin the divorce process from husband and Sum41 frontman Deryck Whibley.
As if the official filing of papers isn't painful enough for Whibley, Lavigne has made it clear that she doesn't want to be responsible for his financial wellbeing when the split turns official. Documents show that she requested the court deny Whibley spousal support (she makes a reported $108 million a year). Lavigne added that they are going to determine property rights at a later time.
The cause for the divorce is cited as irreconcirable differences. Lavigne has spent much of this year partying coast to coast without her hubby and is said to be dating billionaire heir of the Dole fruit empire Justin Murdock, while Whibley was recently spotted with model Hannah Beth Merjos in Las Vegas. It's reported the two hadn't been seen in public together since December 2008. They went public with their plans to divorce in September.
