Barbara Walters To Undergo Heart Surgery
Walters announces heart surgery set for this week.
Barbara Walters, 80, made an important announcement on Monday's episode of The View. Walters told her live studio and television audiences that later this week, she'll be admitted for a serious heart procedure -- here's why she needed the surgery now.
Television journalism legend and interviewer extraordinnaire Barbara Walters has a faulty heart valve that she reports she's known about for some time. Doctors want to address the problem immediately, and they've suggested Walters take some time off from work to recover.
Barbara Walters told The View viewers that now is the right time for her to have this heart surgery because taping for The View takes five weeks of hiatus for summer -- thus, Walters won't miss too much taping. Barbara Walters will return from her heart surgery in September, and she plans to "come roaring back," she said on Monday.
Barbara Walters is listed as a part-time host of The View, as well as a co-creator and co-exec producer. She's looking good for 80, right?
