Batman Beats Superman in Record Comic Book Sale
The Dark Knight prevails.
Batman and Superman aren't usually on opposite sides of the fight. But when it comes to the sale of their comics, these two superheroes are bitter foes. Only three days after a Superman comic became the first to sell for $1 million, a Batman book broke the record again.
A copy of Detective Comics #37, Batman's first appearance in a comic book, colored bright yellow and dated 1939, has sold at a Dallas auction for a whopping $1.075 million.
That's 75 grand more than the 1938 Action Comics #1 (which contains Superman's first appearance) sold for just a few days earlier.
Before the sky high sales of these two record-breaking comics, the most ever fetched for a comic book was a mere $317,000 for a copy of the same Superman comic last year.
Experts believe this is a trend that will continue, as people are looking to invest their money in something other than a tanking stock market.
That means if you have a giant baseball card collection, or an army of still-in-the-package Barbies, it's time to hit up Ebay and the auction block. Get while the gettin's good.
