According to a report from Variety that has not yet been confirmed by Warner Bros., Gordon-Levitt will play mobster Alberto Falcone, aka Holiday or The Holiday Killer.
The character figures heavily in a storyline called The Long Halloween, in which Falcone, the son of mob boss Carmine Falcone, goes on a murder spree that coincides with holidays.

If the story is true, Gordon-Levitt would join Anne Hathaway (Catwoman) and Tom Hardy (Bane) as the Caped Crusader's latest batch of foes. The Holiday Killer would fit with director Nolan's efforts to keep Batman's opponents halfway realistic.
The film, which Nolan has said will be his final Batman movie, also stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard.
The film is scheduled for release on July 20, 2012.
