Beijing Olympics! Do Overs!
Three weeks of staying up until midnight wasn't enough? No worries!
If you woke up sad that the 2008 Beijing Olympics were over, we feel you, fellow lovers of superhuman sport. The thought of waiting four more years for the drama, excitement, tragedies, and travesties of the summer games--not to mention those hot swimmer bods--has us blue indeed. Or maybe we're just tired from the midnight "primetime" coverage.
Hoping to fill the void, and make some cash, NBC is releasing three different DVD sets of the Beijing Games.
- The 2008 Beijing Opening Ceremonies set features two DVDs of the large-scale extravaganza.
- The 2008 Beijing General Highlight DVD set re-caps the best action from the Games.
- Michael Phelps: Greatest Olympic Champion...The Inside Story features all of the superstar's races as well as behind-the-scenes footage. Good, but we think Michael Phelps: Greatest Torso Ever would have been a much better title.
The DVDs will be released on September 15, but you can pre-order them at nbcdvd.com, for $19,99 and $29.99
We like the idea of re-living the magic, but we also realize that part of what makes the Olympics so special is that it doesn't come around very often. Then again, when have we ever said no to gratuitous hot-athlete action?
