Big Families are Taking Over Television
The more kids the merrier.
If there's anything Jon and Kate Plus 8 has taught us, it's that people love kids. And the more the better. Right? Put on a television show with lots of kids and people will watch.
First there was Jon and Kate Plus 8. Then the Duggars came along with their show 18 Kids and Counting. They were OK because the entire premise of their show was different than Jon and Kate's. And 18 kids is a lot! But now, it seems like every family with a large amount of children is stepping forward to make television shows. When will it end?
TLC is launching yet another huge family show (making their total at 3), called Table for 12. We're guessing it will be just like Jon and Kate Plus 8, but with 10 kids instead of 12. According to a TLC programming executive, "There is an ongoing fascination with large families. The Hayes family is truly inspirational and the strong bond they share as they tackle everyday obstacles as a large family is captivating to watch." Just like Jon and Kate!
WE's new show, which is set to air in June, is centered around a family raising sextuplets and is appropriately called Raising Sextuplets. Fun I guess, but 8 is better than 6, right? Shouldn't the amount of children be getting larger in these shows and not smaller?
Bravo's show, Sixx Designs, focuses on a family raising 6 kids. At least this family has something else to offer as parents, Cortney and Robert Novogratz, are also designers who work on unique luxury properties in Manhattan.
Now we're just waiting for the Octomom to start her television show. TLC was considering creating her show until viewers made it clear they didn't want it. But we're sure she and her 14 children will find another home quickly!
