Bill Gates Releases Mosquitoes On Techies
Look out! They've got needles for mouths!
To highlight the ongoing problem of malaria in third-world countries, Bill Gates opened a jar of mosquitoes in front of a technology conference yesterday. The bugs did not have malaria, but Gates made the point that not enough attention is paid to the deadly disease.
"Malaria is spread by mosquitoes. I brought some here," he said. "There is no reason only poor people should be infected." And with that he unscrewed a jar and dozens of bloodsuckers flew out into a stunned crowd of industry leaders.
Other speakers at the conference were folks like Malcolm Gladwell, the author of Tipping Point, and self-help maniac Tony Robbins. Unfortunately, there is no word yet on the sheer hilarity of seeing Robbins run in terror from icky little bugs. Yeah, I think I'd risk malaria just to see that.
