Breaking 'Rules': Mix Your Metallics!
Thanks to our friends at mystyle.com
What's one huge fashion rule we were always told when we were younger? You need to pick either silver or gold and stick to it. No mixing and matching jewelry ever. At a young age, most of us chose silver, but now that gold is back in style we want to start rocking it without saying goodbye to silver. The good news? Now we can wear both... At the same tim!
Finally, finally, mixing metallics is totally acceptable. And actually quite fashionable. We've been noticing some of our favorite celebrities doing it lately. But never so much as when we saw Kristen Stewart's look at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. She wore a Dolce and Gabbana dress that was gold on top and silver on the bottom, broken up with a black belt. We loed the look and the "rule" breaking.
And now mystyle.com is confirming for us that it's totally fashionable to wear mixed metallics these days. They say that it's even more acceptable if you're also mixing different textures. And even better, they're telling us that any jewelry goes with the mixed metallic look, as long as it's neutral and not a bright color. We can handle that!
