Brittany Murphy's Mom: Star Died of Heart Murmur

Husband says they had it "checked out."

Brittany Murphy's cause of death has not been released yet, but the actress' mother says it definitely had nothing to do with drugs or alcohol. She claims that her daughter had a heart murmur, and that may have been what killed her.

"The congenital condition was diagnosed when Brittany was a teenager and she always had the best medical care for it," Sharon Murphy told Radar Online.

Brittany Murphy, who gained fame with roles in movies like Clueless and Girl, Interrupted, died in Hollywood at the age of 32. Rumors have abounded that she was heavily involved in drugs and alcohol, stories which her mother has spent a good deal of time trying to dispel.

Despite her reported heart condition, Brittany's Husband, Simon Monjack believes they took all the necessary precautions.

"We had it checked out every which way you could imagine," he told People magazine.
