Can Lindsay Lohan Match Up to Katie Holmes?

Lindsay Lohan isn't quite Katie Holmes, but maybe she can fit the role.

It was recently announced that Lindsay Lohan would be starring in the upcoming movie The Other Side. But now we're learning the role Lindsay will be playing was originally meant for Katie Holmes. Can Lindsay match up to Katie?

When we think of Katie Holmes, we don't see that she has a whole lot in common with Lindsay Lohan. In terms of looks, personality, family, acting style, etc., everything seems pretty different. But when Katie wasn't able to do a movie she was originally scheduled to do, director David Michaels chose Lindsay Lohan for the role instead.

The leading role in The Other Side was even written with Katie Holmes in mind and Michaels says, "Katie would call me from Berlin at 4 a.m. her time to go over ideas and notes...The result of our collaboration has tremendously improved the arc and dynamic of the lead character." A character that is now Lindsay's.

Funding fell through for the project, so Katie ended up taking a role in All My Sons on Broadway instead. Now that The Other Side is back on, Katie doesn't have time to do it, so Michael's chose Lindsay Lohan to join the star-studded cast that already includes Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Jason Lee, Alanis Morissette, and Dave Matthews.

Michael's believes in Lindsay and says, "Lindsay's very aware of people's perceptions of her. She's really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that."

We wonder how Katie Holmes feels about the role she created being given to Lindsay Lohan. Will Lindsay be able to do it justice?
