Cher To Join Christina Aguilera in Musical

Singer Cher is set to join Christina Aguilera in a musical called Burlesque, according to reports. Christina, 28, had already been revealed as one of the stars of the show and she will play a small-town girl who finds success in a burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard.

Cher, 63, will play the role of Tess, who is a former dancer who runs the club and gives Christina's character the chance to shine. It will be Cher's first film role in ten years and she will also be singing on the new film. Production on the film, produced by Donald De Line, will begin in November. The film will be made through company Screen Gems, whose president Clint Culpepper has been telling Cher to make her screen return for some time. Talking about her appearance in the film, he said: "She brings a soulfulness and gravitas to this character that will ground the story." He added: "The only person who was more excited than I am is Christina."
