Chris Brown Has Been Formally Sentenced
Shamed singer Chris Brown has been formally sentenced to 180 days of community service and five years probation for beating up ex-girlfriend Rihanna. The R&B star appeared at a Los Angeles court this afternoon to be sentenced after pleading guilty to felony assault.
Brown was told he will be personally supervised by the Richmond chief of police while he completes tasks in his home state of Virginia, such as picking up litter, graffiti removal and washing cars. Brown must also complete a 52-week domestic violence programme and must attend court every three months during his probation. He also has a protective order issued against him, which means must stay away from Rihanna. Brown and the Umbrella singer’s infamous bust-up happened after they left a pre-Grammy awards party in February. The couple were reported to have had a huge row in Brown’s car, with Rihanna telling police at the time that Brown had put his hands around her neck, telling her, “I’m going to kill you!”. A police report described how Rihanna lost consciousness and woke up to find Brown had fled the scene. Leaked police photographs showed Rihanna with a black eye and badly swollen face.
