Here was the catch.

Christina Ricci wore a slim and sparkling Versace couture gown to the Oscars in 1999, and one high school senior in Michigan got to wear the very same gown to her prom last week. Here's a look at how Kayla Staskiewicz won the competition, along with the one tiny (and we do mean tiny) caveat she needed to meet.

Christina Ricci attended the Oscars in 1999 wearing an elegant lavendar drop-shoulder gown by Versace. This year she decided to connect with teens in the Midwest by donating the gown to give high school students an opportunity to wear the gown that Ricci hasn't donned in more than 12 years.

What's happening in film & TV news?

Ricci's criss-cross designed dress could be worn under one small condition: whoever won the competition would have to squeeze into a size zero. Kayla Staskiewicz of Waterford, Michigan scored a chance to try on the dress after her dad entered her in the contest through the local Detroit NBC-affiliated TV station, WDIV-TV; but she was up against 10 other girls who tried on the dress.

Staskiewicz, however, was the only one who fit into the dress -- and this made her the winner. Reports suggest that over and over, her mother referred to her as "Cinderella," and Kayla told the local NBC affiliate that she was absolutely thrilled to wear Christina Ricci's dress to the prom.

It's a sweet story, and more celebs should find ways to connect with their fans through opportunities like this...meanwhile, my only gripe is the insistence that the girls would've had to have been a size zero. Like high school girls don't have enough pressure to be petite and perfect. Way to invade the Midwest with your disproportionate reality, Hollywood.
