Clint Eastwood Bitchslaps Hathaway and Hawn Spawn
Give it up for the ol' guy!
Feeling vindicated in our strong belief that women will not go see any crappy movie about women battling over flower arrangements and devolving into frenemy frenzy, we're proud to report that Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino drove right over Bride Wars at the box office this weekend.
Eastwood's over-the-top examination of race relations and aging took in $29 million at an average of $10,000 a screen, and after being in the theaters for five weeks already. By comparison, Bride Wars, which opened on more screens (and with a nonstop ad campaign), took in $21.5 million at under $7,000 a screen. But if you ask us, that's about $21.5 million too many dollars for a movie that's already being proclaimed the worst of 2009.
Our new favorite audience participation flick, The Unborn, came in third at $21.1 million.
The vote is in: Less Hawn Spawn and Hath, more Clint and Jomby.
