Conan Says Goodbye NY, Hello LA
It's time to move on.
He's come a long way from being an unknown writer for SNL and The Simpsons, but Conan O'Brien is nowhere near the end of his career. The funnyman will say goodbye to Late Night and New York in order to take over the Tonight Show franchise from Jay Leno.
So will it be a smooth transition? And is he sad to say goodbye to New York? Says Conan,
"For a while, I was in denial - 'Oh, we'll just stop doing this show and we'll move on to the next one.' That's very me, very male. Men don't like to say goodbye. My wife told me about six months ago, 'I think you have to admit that you have mixed feelings about leaving this late-night show. It's very emotionally charged for you. That's okay.'"
Don't cry, Conan. Just think! Soon you'll be in sunny LA! You can get a tan, go to Disneyland, maybe do some shopping on Rodeo. It'll be fab.
O'Brien's last show is on Friday and will be on reruns for a week. On March 2, Jimmy Fallon will take over. Leno will say goodbye May 29, with O'Brien taking over June 1. Whew. That's a whole lotta transition.
Bon voyage, pack your sunscreen!
