Courtney Love Wants to Sue Guitar Hero
Hold the rock 'n' roll.
Courtney Love has no love for Guitar Hero. The '90s rockstar and widow to Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain is aflame over Activision's use of Cobain's image in their new game, Guitar Hero 5, and she plans to sue them for it.
Love claims on her Twitter account that Cobain's image was used without consent, and she wants to take legal action against Activision, the game's developer.
"For the record this Guitar Hero s**t is breach of contract on a Bullys part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction," Love wrote via Twitter. "WE are going to sue the s**t out of Activision we being the Trust the Estate the LLC the various LLCs Cobain Enterprises."
She also did her best to discourage people from purchasing the game. At least that's what we decyphered from this:
"YOU for dismissing me as a LOON, go f***ing play guitar hero commit necrophilai KNOW you are raping me and my family mother in law child," she posted.
Of course, Activision has responded with a statement claiming it has followed all laws and procedures and that they have used Cobain's image and likeness completely legally.
"Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain’s likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero 5," they said.
So what do you think? Do you find Activision's move to put Cobain in their new game unlawful or distasteful, or is Courtney just off her rocker again?
