DJ AM's Funeral Was Casual
DJ AM's family and friends including pal Travis Barker have mourned the star’s loss at his funeral in Los Angeles today. The celebrity DJ – real name Adam Goldstein – was laid to rest in a private service at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary, a Jewish cemetery in West LA.
Mourners began to congregate just after 3pm for the intimate ceremony honoring Goldstein, who was found dead in his New York apartment last Friday having apparently overdosed on drugs at the age of 36. His mother Andrea Gross, using a cane to walk, was helped to the graveside by friends including Blink 182 drummer Barker, with whom Goldstein survived a fatal plane crash last September. The funeral party – including Goldstein’s girlfriend Hayley Wood - dressed casually for the event, with several of the pallbearers wearing their best trainers, T-shirts and baseball caps in tribute to Goldstein, an avid collector of sneakers. Barker wore a pinstriped suit and sunglasses. Nicole Richie and Joel and Benji Madden were also among the mourners. Family and friends will honour Goldstein again on Thursday night in a memorial service at the Hollywood Palladium. An official cause of death will not be released for several weeks.
