Daniel Radcliffe Slams 'Pottermore' Plans
This Could Take Some Serious Magic
Daniel Radcliffe, who's embodied Harry Potter the boy wizard on the big screen for most of his life, has long been one of the most ardent opponents of future Harry Potter projects and, last week when J.K. Rowling launched Pottermore.com to hint at some continuance to her magical series,he maintained his stance.
Last Thursday J.K. Rowling surprised the world with the quiet launch of Pottermore.com, a website that seemed to point to the possibility that there may be more Harry Potter on the way. While Rowling had once said she had no more to tell the world about the boy wizard, she shared with Oprah in 2010 that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 made her feel as though a family member had died. "It was a bereavement," Rowling said about finishing the seventh book in the series. "I could definitely write an eighth, ninth, tenth."

Instantly all eyes went to Harry Potter film star Daniel Radcliffe, who said he'd absolutely had enough of playing an adolescent wizard. In November 2010 Radcliffe said Rowling "promised me categorically that there wouldn't be another book involving Harry. I think 10 years is a long time to spend with one character." .
But when Pottermore.com went live last week, reporters touched base with Radcliffe again...with the final film hitting theaters on JUly 15, would Radcliffe consider waving the Harry wand) again? Unfortunately, not so much. "I will have worked 20 years to establish a career outside of [Harry Potter], and at that point to go back to it would feel a little self-defeating," Radcliffe said this week. As for what sort of spell Rowling's got up her sleeve with Pottermore.com, Radcliffe says that's the author's business. "I know nothing about that whatsoever," Radcliffe said. "I'm sure that Jo will be writing a lot more in the coming years." Could a prequel with James and Lilly Potter be what Rowling has up her sleeves? The world will know tomorrow morning when she makes the announcement. (Fingers crossed!)
.
Radcliffe's response is almost as rough as his scruffy attempt at a grown-up beard. Should the 21-year-old actor just cave and play more Potter? Or even at a reported net worth of $78 million, could more Harry Potter put the deathly hallows on Radcliffe's career?
