David Letterman: "Tiger Woods, Stop Calling for Advice"
Nothing says laughter like a good sex joke.
David Letterman is counting his lucky stars. The veteran talk show host was able to joke about someone else's philandering last night, when he spent a healthy amount of show time ribbing Tiger Woods, and perhaps even thanking him for taking the spotlight away. Because if there's anything more sensational than a celebrity sex scandal, it's an even bigger celebrity sex scandal.
The Woods controversy has taken more twisty turns than a water slide, with the world renowned golfer allegedly wrapped up with almost a dozen mistressess. And David Letterman, after a week off, returned to his late night show equipped with more than a few barbs.
"President Obama is sending troops to Afghanistan," Letterman said. "Hell, he ought to be sending them to Tiger Woods' house."
Letterman's own problems started back in October, when a producer at CBS allegedly tried to blackmail him into coughing up $2 million or risk having sensitive information about his sexual affairs coming to light.
But with Woods' controversy on everyone's mind, Letterman can joke from a safe distance. In his Top 10 list last night, the comedian enlisted the help of actor Tom Hanks to react to each entry.
Number one on the list, of course, was "blame Letterman."
In the latest update to the Tiger Woods saga, it seems his own mother-in-law couldn't take the pressure. Reports are that she suffered a heart attack earlier this morning.
