'Daybreakers,' 'Leap Year' Lead Weekend Releases
What's new in theaters this weekend.
The holidays are over, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to relax this weekend. And with new releases like the horror flick Daybreakers, the indie comedy Youth in Revolt, and the rom-com Leap Year now in theaters, there never was a better time to head to the cinema.
In the new scifi horror film Daybreakers, Ethan Hawke stars as a man fighting to save two races, humans and vampires. A deadly outbreak turned most of the population into blood-suckers, and now human beings are on the verge of extinction. But something even worse lurks in the shadows.
Michael Cera is the king of indie comedies. And in Youth in Revolt, the young actor retains his crown. Cera stars as Nick, a wise-beyond-his-years teenager who is forced to create another personality, a dashing rebel, in order to get the girl.
If Cera is the king of indies, then Amy Adams is the queen of rom-coms. In her latest film, Leap Year, Adams stars as a woman desperate for marriage. But, of course, he won't propose. So instead she decides to take advantage of an Irish custom that allows women to propose on February 29th, and she enlists the help of a dashing youg Irishman (Matthew Goode) to help her.
