Drink More Booze - Heart to Heart
Red red wine, go to my head.
I love red wine. A few glasses, a couple of close friends and your troubles seem to just melt away. Or what I thought were my troubles, turns out that feel-good feeling is just my triglycerides (a type of blood fat) lowering, artery inflammation lessening and my heart's overall rhythms balancing. Whatever the cause, this feeling is borderline amazing.
In an Italy-based study (duh) researchers found that European adults who drank moderate amounts of wine had higher blood levels of omega-3s. Those who favored the grapey cocktail over beer and other spirits were found to increase the body's metabolism of omega- 3 fats, thereby lowering heart related disease.
But why is this important? Well it turns out, increased metabolism of O3s boosts levels of "good" HDL cholesterol which helps to reduce the occurrence of blood clots and perks up the blood vessel function. Fabulous, huh?!
Wow. Red wine just keeps gettin' better and better for us. You best stop by the liquor store after work today and do your part to get your heart in tip-top shape!
Cheers!
