We saw Patti Stanger on Oprah recently and have been addicted to Millionaire Matchmaker ever since. With Valentine's Day just past, this is the busiest time of year for the world's most famous matchmaker...and perhaps the most important time of year for women like you to seek her advice.

LimeLife: Patti, for women who were disappointed that they didn't have the Valentine's Day of their dreams this year, what can they do to get out there, meet guys, and have an awesome Valentine's Day in 2011?

Patti Stanger: Let's look at Valentine's Day as our New Year's Eve holiday for love. Every New Year's Eve we make resolutions. But putting pressure on it like, "Oh, next year I will have a Valentine's Day date" is just going to screw you up because if you don't have a date next year then you're just going to [make the resolution] again and again. Then that becomes the definition of insanity! How about we look at it like "Next year at this time, I'm gonna be really happy." Don't put the man into the equation.

LimeLife: Okay, we'll stop putting the man into future equations. But what about the past romances that still have us feeling sad or humiliated?

Patti Stanger: This is in my book [Become Your Own Matchmaker]. There's a step called "dating detox," which basically clears your energetic field of all the crappy guys you've gone out with, all the bad boyfriends, all the exes who keep popping in and messing your head up. After you've done the dating detox and those guys are no longer enticing you or screwing you up, then the right guy can jump into your space.

LimeLife: So it's within our power to subconsciously invite men into our lives?

Patti Stanger: Most [women] have blockage when it comes to men. Either they're negative and they don't think anyone exists, they think all the good ones are taken, or they think "Nobody's gonna like me" and they're critical of their looks and their behavior...or they're still hung up on somebody else, and nobody can measure up to what the ex was like.

LimeLife: And your point is that improving romantic prospects is as easy as thinking more positively?

Patti Stanger: When you get rid of all [those negative thoughts about romance], you have a hope in your soul, and you're open to new possibilities. Most times, if you see the girl who ends up with the guy and it was easy-breezy -- she didn't really have to work for it, he just showed up at the grocery store then a year later they're engaged, then a year later they're married -- she shifted her energy [even though] she may not be the prettiest girl at the party.
