Erin Andrews' Peeping Tom Sentenced To Jail
Erin Andrews "angry" at court's decision.
Erin Andrews can finally breathe easy...for now. The 31-year-old sportscaster said goodbye to her peeping tom on Monday, when a judge sentenced the 49-year-old Michael David Barrett to 30 months in prison. Here's what Andrews is saying about the sentence.
Michael David Barrett received two and a half years in jail for federal "interstate stalking" charges, after he followed Erin Andrews around the country and took a video of her through the peephole of her Milwaukee hotel room last summer. It's said Andrews was curling her hair and doing squats in the video, and when she gave an interview to Oprah about it last year, she called the event a "nightmare."
Erin Andrews (who appears on this season's Dancing With the Stars) told reporters that she was "very nervous" to see Michael Barrett in court on Monday, but after the judge revealed the sentencing, Erin Andrews made a statement saying she was "angry." She feels that 30 months in prison and the $7,000 restitution that Michael Barrett has to pay is not enough (it's said she wanted Barrett to pay $335,000). Erin Andrews told reporters, "I'm at the angry stage right now. I'm mad. Thirty months isn't enough. I think it's time for Congress, lawmakers to make a stiffer sentence for what it is. A lot of celebrities who have been stalked want to put it away. I can't. I'm in the angry stage."
The Erin Andrews peephole video forced her to take a hiatus from her job and had her living "underground" at her mother's home in Atlanta, when it was reported last September that paparazzi were stalking her through her mother's window.
Enough already, people. Meanwhile American Idol's Kara DioGuardi feels that baring it all can actually make a woman's career...better? Here's what DioGuardi is saying about her famous on-air bikini stunt.
