Gabourey Sidibe Lands Role in Showtime Series
Her career's taking off
For those of you who said Gabourey Sidibe will never be able to play a role apart from her Oscar-nominated on in Precious, she's proving you wrong! Gabby just snagged a role in a new Showtime series called The Big C.
It sounds like Gabourey Sidibe is determined to continue her acting career and wants to prove she doesn't have to lose any weight to do so. And so far, she's on a role. Gabby was recently offered a role in Laura Linney's new project, The Big C on Showtime. Her career will go on beyond Precious!
The Big C is said to be a dark comedy, which is being produced by Laura Linney. And Linney will also be playing the lead role! Gabourey will be playing the recurring role of a student with a sassy mouth in Laura Linney's class. Sounds just about right for her!
Laura Linney will play a suburban woman who's a teacher, wife, and mother. Oh, and she has terminal cancer, too. The series has already been picked up for 13 episodes and we're hoping Gabourey Sidibe has a long-running role! Maybe an Emmy is in her future!
