Gabourey Sidibe Rejects Oprah's Limo Invite
"I was like, 'I got it Oprah, calm down,'" Sidibe says.
What a fun Oscars story. Apparently Oprah Winfrey called 26-year-old Precious star Gabourey Sidibe to ask Sidibe to ride in her limo to the Academy Awards on Sunday. Here's why Sidibe (sweetly) refused.
"Oprah called me and was like, 'Hey girl, do you want to ride together?'" Gabourey Sidibe told People at the third annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon on Thursday. Sidibe continues, "I was like, 'I got it Oprah, calm down. I don't want to show up with you. People will think we're too cool."
Sidibe reveals, however, that her limo ride refusal wasn't out of a lack of fondness for Oprah. Says Sidibe, "She's the only [celebrity] that I'm continually star-struck by ... Oprah is the only one I can't get used to."
Gabourey Sidibe is up for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Oscars on Sunday, and Precious is in the running for Best Pictures. Stay with LimeLife for all your Oscars 2010 coverage, or if you need some entertainment in the meantime, check out our new Photo gallery!
By the way, Gabourey Sidibe to Oprah wasn't the only Oscars "was-that-a-snub?" this week. J. K. Rowling refuses to show up to present with Stephenie Meyer...read it here.
