Gap Launches 1969 Denim-Only Store in NYC
Denim, denim, denim
Love Gap's 1969 denim collection? You're in luck! Gap just launched their first 1969 denim-only store in New York City. Will denim-only stores be a craze that hits the rest of the country soon?
Everybody knows that designer denim has been all the rage the past few years. And Gap wants a piece of that market, with their 1969 denim collection. And they're in a good position to have a piece of that market, considering their line is moderately priced (their jeans generally cost about $69.95). So, will a denim-only store help them?
I don't quite get the concept of a denim-only store, considering Gap will also be selling "complementary tops, jackets and shoes" in their denim-only stores. Doesn't that make the denim-only stores basically like all other Gap stores? I suppose these stores must be more "casual" and less about professional work clothes. So, a more fun, casual Gap? I guess I can buy that.
Supposedly, the store has tons of denim, greenery, raw wood, and an iPad bar (for your boyfriend who doesn't feel like watching you try on jeans). And according to Stylelist, the executive vice president for design at Gap says, "Our new 1969 store is to basically make our customer feel special while shopping for denim... We wanted this store to feel like a boutique."
Robinson adds that denim has always been "the heart" of the Gap brand; which I suppose is true. And since the 1969 line is better than any denim line Gap has had in years, I get why they wanted a denim-only store.
Will you be stopping by the Gap's new denim "boutique" located at New York City's Lower Broadway?
