Gavin Rossdale Finally Admits to Gay Relationship
Gavin Rossdale says he never tried to hide it.
For years Gavin Rossdale has been dodging inquiries about claims that he's gay. Boy George tried to out Rossdale in a memoir, and British former pop singer Marilyn (real name Peter Robinson) has dished on the five-year affair he says he had with Rossdale. Finally Gwen Stefani's husband admits: yes, a gay fling's in his past.
The UK version of "OK!" Magazine's site published the long-awaited yet unbelievable admission by Gavin Rossdale early Wednesday afternoon UK time: he had a gay romance, and he's finally willing to open up.

The British pop star Marilyn once said that he and Gavin Rossdale carried on a five-year affair in which, Marilyn said, "[Gavin] was the love of my life. We were together five years, but it felt like 40. He was just becoming successful in America. I agreed to lie against every grain of my being."
After all this time, Gavin Rossdale responds:
"I think at the outset there was a sort of fear -- that was right at the beginning of Bush, and I didn't want it to be part of it. It felt like a cheap shot, so I was like, ‘I'm not getting involved.' ... I've never wanted to appear closed about it. It's not something I've talked about really because it's always been in the glare of a tabloid world. It's just one of those things -- move on."
Rossdale goes on to explain that he was young in the 1980s, searching for himself and experimenting with his sexuality to understand his identity: "When you're 17, Jesus Christ, I don't think there's anything strange about any form of anything," Rossdale says. "You're learning about life. It's a part of growing up. That's it. No more, no less." He insists, however, that his affair with Marilyn was a one-off, not an ongoing thing as the pop star has declared: "Yeah. [One time] was it. You have to know what you like, and I know what I like."

Boy George outed Gavin Rossdale in his 1990s memoir "Take It Like a Man," and Rossdale responded with a denial: "I hope he manages to sell some books by putting my name in there...I wasn't dating Marilyn. We were, and still are, good friends. George thinks everyone is gay.".
