George Clooney Won't Play Jack Ryan
Rumours that George Clooney, 48, would play the next Jack Ryan - hero of the Tom Clancey action novels - have been shot down by a Hollywood executive.
G.I. Joe producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura was asked about the Ryan project in a recent interview. "Sorry George," said di Bonaventura, who has 32 projects in development. He also indicated there was progress on the project. "We submitted a script to Paramount recently. It was well-received and it's in the process." Indicating the thinking behind Ryan, he also said: "It's for a young Jack Ryan. I love George, but it's not written for a man of his age. It's written for a guy in his early 30s." Ryan has been previously played by Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin. Clooney, meanwhile, is busy with movie projects in Italy and the company of a gorgeous local, Elisabetta Canalis.
