George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis go Public

For awhile there, George Clooney was keeping his new girlfriend, Italian model Elisabetta Canalis, out of the spotlight. But now the pair have gone public, with Canalis accompanying Clooney to the Venice Film Festival.
The pair arrived by water taxi, with Clooney's hand still bandaged from the motorcycle accident he was in last month. Despite his injuries, Italian newspapers went gaga over the famous couple, with many tabloids claiming them the new Brad and Angelina.
Canalis has been a staple of Italian television since starring in a satirical news show 10 years ago. Since then she's starred in sitcoms, posed for topless calendars and dated a handful of famous soccer players. She currently works as the host of Italian MTV's Total Request Live.
George and Elisabetta have been spotted together, and photographed hugging and kissing, since mid-July when they apparently met while dining on an Italian rooftop. Since then the pair have been spotted canoodling at cafes, leaving hotels together and jetting around Milan on Clooney's motorcycle.
But according to some of Canalis' friends and co-stars, the romance has gone on much longer. While filming in New York in 2006, Alessandro Siani, a felow actor, noticed a strange car following her everywhere.
"One day I finally decided to go over and confront the occupants of the car. I went over and to my surprise, who was sitting in the car? George Clooney!" he told an Italian magazine. "This isn't a new fling."
So now, with the two making a big public appearance at the Venice Film Festival, George Clooney may have finally found someone to settle down with.
