Girl Quarterback Playing for Florida High School Team
Who said girls can't play football?
High Schooler Erin Dimeglio started her South Plantation High School team as a third-string quarterback.
Girl power!
She's believed to be the first female to play quarterback for a Florida high school football team.

Her mom, Kathleen Dimeglio, commented, "To us, she's a pretty humble, regular kid."
Dimeglio is far from "regular," however, as she's up and off to high school and Broward College, where she's taking 12 credits this fall. She returns to high school later in the day for football practice and doesn't get home until 8:30, when it's time to dig into homework and do chores.
Dimeglio commented, "I'm just out here to prove myself. I'm going to prove it by doing it on the field."
Overall, the teenager doesn't want the extra attention focused on her because she's a girl, with her mom explaining, "She's concerned about the attention on her, when she wants the attention on her whole team."
Her father, Tom Dimeglio, had nothing but praise for the team, explaining, "The team has been great to Erin from Day 1. They've all been fantastic. I want to definitely applaud all the boys playing. They've supported her in every way. They're out there looking out for her."

Her advice for other girls? "Don't give up on your dreams," Dimeglio said. "Keep dreaming."
