Guitar Hero 5: Ready to Rock
Jam on.
If you've ever wanted to strap on a Fender and jam with Kurt Cobain, your chance has finally arrived. Guitar Hero 5 comes out today, with brand new features, a boatload of songs and an all-star rock 'n' roll cast, including the late Nirvana singer.
The game arrives with tons of new material and features, like 85 new songs by 83 artists, including some pretty cool bands like Arctic Monkeys, A Perfect Circle, Brand New, Eagles of Death Metal (personal favorite), Gorillaz, Gov't Mule, Grand Funk Railroad, King Crimson, Peter Frampton, Spacehog, Sunny Day Real Estate and The Derek Trucks Band.
Brian Bright, a Product Director for Neversoft, the game's developer, thinks this variety will make the game even more successful. "The varied set list," he said, "ensures there's killer guitar music for everyone."
The latest Guitar Hero game comes out just a week before the arrival of the highly anticipated The Beatles: Rock Band. That's why Guitar Hero makers are loading the game up with enticements, like a free copy of the Van Halen edition as well as new game-play features.
Party mode, for example, let's players jump in and out of songs with just the press of the button. There will also be an opportunity for players to rock four people at a time.
Included in the game are unlockable musicians like Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain, Shirley Manson and Carlos Santana.
"We wanted to break barriers and allow people to play the game the way they want to," said Bright. "Sure most bands don't have four guitarists, but that's not really a good reason to disallow players to play however they choose."
