Can You Feel the Love?
Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo sure can. After breaking up several months ago, the couple has patched things up and hitting the town again. While I'll always have a crazy wishful hope that Nick and Jessica will reunite, this couple is super cute. And Nick deserves some happiness after all the craziness. (And so does Jessica while we're on the subject. She just can't seem to catch a break!)
A new couple made headlines this week as they started popping up together: Katy Perry and Russell Brand. I, for one, think this pairing is sensational! He's super weird and funny and she's super cute and loves pushing the envelope. It's possible that these two lovebirds were absolutely made for one another!
Newly divorced Phantom of the Opera star Emmy Rossum has recently been dating Counting Crows singer Adam Duritz. They made a very public appearance earlier this week at the American Ballet Theater Fall gala. Duritz, who's been linked to Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox in the past, seems smitten with his brunette muse. Yay for them!
And can we talk about Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez for a minute? How hot of a couple are they? And are they getting married or aren't they? Let's hope so! Love her and them.
And finally, everyone's still waiting to find out if the Penelope Cruz/Jarvier Bardem engagement rumors are true. As I've said in the past, I really hope so!
Dave Letterman Scandal
Talk show host Dave Letterman shocked the world last Thursday evening when he admitted during his late night show that he was the target of a $2 million extortion plot. He further revealed the reason behind the blackmail-sexual relationships with female staffers in the past. Many questions were raised after he admitted this and over the course of the past week, more and more information popped up. Most interesting to me: the woman (Stephanie Birkitt) with whom Letterman formerly had a relationship just dumped the guy trying to extort money from the Late Night host.
Either way, this is a big huge deal because Letterman is famous and has spent a fair amount of time (on air, no less) telling jokes about other famous people getting caught in similar situations. And now he's been caught doing essentially the same thing. My feeling is - so what? Celebrities, including Letterman, shouldn't be held to higher standards JUST because they're famous. The fact is, Letterman should have only one person to deal with about all of this - and that's his wife and long-time partner. Not us, the audience of his late night talk show...

Kate and Jon Are Still in the News
Following last week's big drama around Jon getting dropped from Jon and Kate Plus 8 and then him claiming the kids hate cameras, the Gosselin saga continues. First off, earlier this week, Kate finally removed her wedding ring. She'd admitted before that she was wearing it for the kid's sake but it seems she doesn't think that's necessary anymore. Instead, she's sporting a ring with 8 diamonds and a mother of pearl. (I actually think that's kinda cute. Don't tell anyone I said so.)
It was then reported that Jon had stolen over $200,000 from their joint account. Jon defended himself saying that in actuality Kate was hiding money. Before this financial crisis was solved (or perhaps I just stopped listening), the former couple disagreed on how to handle Jon's presence at their twin's birthday party. I mean, REALLY? THIS IS CONSIDERED NEWS? Every little incident that happens with these two is being covered on a daily basis in the blogs. EVEN I AM COVERING IT RIGHT HERE! Man oh man. I apologize. Next week, I'll try and keep it Gosselin free.
Hollywood Happenings
- Miley Cyrus deleted her Twitter account on Thursday. Apparently her new boyfriend wasn't a fan of the micro-blogging service and asked her to leave the social network. As one of the most followed celebrities on Twitter, I think she's made a mistake - she's eliminated a direct conversation with her fans! And the fans already miss her - within hours, #MileyComeBack was the highest trending topic on Twitter.
- Simpsons matriarch Marge is taking it all off for Playboy! It's true; the blue-haired mom will be gracing the cover of the November issue. Homer hasn't yet been located to get a comment but I'm guessing he'll be somewhat proud to have his woman prominently featured in one of his favorite magazines. Hee hee!
- Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain's daughter Frances Bean unleashed several tweets earlier this week about how much she doesn't care for Lindsay Lohan's little sis Ali. After sending 7 tweets explaining why she doesn't really like Ali, she ended up deleting her account. I think it's kinda weird when celebrities (or their children) turn to Twitter to spout off mean monologues about other celebrities (or their siblings.) Right?
- Couples Therapy comes out this weekend and I'm dying to see this. Jason Bateman, Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, and Kristen Bell all star. Need I say more?
