HollyNotes: Tiger Woods, Tom Brady, Jessica Simpson, and Lindsay Lohan
Well, the Tiger Woods situation is still going full force. As I predicted last week, this story isn't going anywhere for a while. Let's catch up on the latest.
First, early this week, Tiger's wife's mother, Barbro Holmberg, was rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night. At 2:30am on Tuesday morning, Elin called 911 to report that her mom had collapsed. While on the phone, Elin said her mom had recovered and was okay yet the operator insisted on sending an ambulance. Holmberg was admitted to the hospital with stomach pains and is now in stable condition.
As the week progressed, the news for Tiger did not improve. On Wednesday and Thursday, two of his biggest sponsors began downplaying their connection to the golfer. Gatorade pulled their upcoming Tiger Focus line of energy drinks. Though the company is actually trying to keep a straight face and say this new development is unrelated to the recent drama surrounding Tiger, I think we all know it does. (I mean, right?) Not long after, another one of Tiger's biggest sponsors, Tag Heuer removed all its Tiger-related in-store advertising. And Gillette TV commercials featuring the scandalous athlete seem to have all but disappeared. I'm pretty curious to see what Nike, his biggest sponsor, plans on doing. They did release a statement supporting Tiger... but that was before his number of alleged mistresses hit 13.
And the week didn't get better as it wore on. On Thursday, an alleged email exchange between Tiger and mistress #1 Rachel Uchitel hit the web. In the note, Tiger talks about how he's sorry they didn't met earlier and how he's fallen for her. He also questions her intentions after hearing about her past with other celebrities. It's riveting reading if you haven't already seen it.
This story is a trainwreck. It keeps getting worse but no one can look away.

More Hollywood Happenings
- Tom Brady and Gisele welcomed what will most likely be the cutest little baby boy in the history of the world this week. While the exact birthday and name haven't been released, I'm super excited for the couple and can't wait to see pics of the little tyke.
- Tyler Perry's mother, the inspiration behind his most famous character Madea, died earlier this week. No details have been released about her death.
- Bryant Gumbal surprised the Live! with Regis and Kelly audience on Monday when he announced he'd recently undergone surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his lung. He says he's fine for now but goes back to see his doctor next week. Wishing you the best, Bryant!
.
- Two years into her engagement to Franco-Swiss billionaire Arpad Busson, Uma Thurman has called off the wedding. While the news went public this week, the pair actually broke up over two months ago and it's not clear who broke up with whom. Busson would have been Thurman's third husband. Now that the blonde bombshell is single, I wonder whom she'll hook up with next. Wouldn't a George Clooney/Uma Thurman pairing be fun?
- Speaking of love connections, Jessica Simpson and Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan are dating. Nope, I'm not kidding. You are not getting Punk'd. This is for real. The two have been spotted together repeatedly. Here's the deal - if he makes her happy (and vice versa) I'm down for this match. As you all know, I'm still REALLY pulling for Jessica. Maybe Billy is the kind of guy she needs: older, mature, and creative. Time will tell...
- And if that match up isn't weird enough for you, Lindsay Lohan was seen exiting Jason Segal's (How I Met Your Mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) house at 7am this week. Hmmmmmm. While this unfortunately won't do great things for Segal's rep, I actually don't mind this. In fact, I think it might help Lindsay's rep! He's a good, solid, funny actor. Maybe he can help straighten her up!
