The revelations about the sad and sudden passing of Brittany Murphy continue. The 32-year-old Clueless and 8 Mile actress was known to be a shining star in the lives of her single mother Sharon Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack...turns out these are the two who were present when Brittany died. According to a new report, they did everything they could to save her.

TMZ has the full story, but we'll recap it. Apparently Simon Monjack told authorities that his wife Brittany Murphy had been complaining about shortness of breath for a week to a week and a half before her death. She also had severe abdominal pain, but as we reported early Tuesday, Monjack chalked it up to her common bad menstrual symptoms.

Brittany Murphy slipped into her bathroom at 7:30 Sunday morning, and when her mother went to check on her half an hour later, she "discovered the decedent lying on the floor unresponsive," according to documents TMZ has obtained. From his bed, Simon Monjack heard Sharon Murphy's screams and rushed into the bathroom to see what was happening.

The two of them put Brittany's body in the shower and turned on the water to try to revive her. It's reported Brittany had purged her stomach of its contents before she passed away (as we reported Tuesday morning, the coroner knew the details right down to what she had to eat for dinner the night before -- get that story here).

By the time paramedics arrived, Brittany Murphy was "without signs of life."
