How Often Men Really Think About Sex
That Seven Second Statistic is Old News
Once upon a time, there was research done that revealed that men think about sex every seven seconds -- which would add up to a whopping 8,000 a day, every day.
Now a new study conducted at Ohio State University reveals that number is not accurate. So, how often do men (and women) think about getting their groove on?
Professor Terri Fisher and her team found that the male participants in their study thought about having sex as many as 388 times a day (the average was 19) and females clocked in at almost half with 140.
"It's amazing the way people will spout off these fake statistics that men think about sex nearly constantly and so much more often than women do," Fisher says. "When a man hears a statement like that, he might think there's something wrong with him because he's not spending that much time thinking about sexuality, and when women hear about this, if they spend significant time thinking about sex they might think there's something wrong with them."

Students who participated in the study filled out questionaires that detailed their attitude about sex, their sexuality and their need to fit in within a social group.
"There's really no good reason that our society should have believed that men are thinking so much more about sex than women. Even the research that had been done previously doesn't support the stereotype that men are thinking about sex every seven seconds," says Fisher.
Where on the scale do you think you fit in? Thinking about sex 388 times a day?
