Intro to Winehouse: Drugs, Fame, Despair, and Do-Rags
Study up on Amy 101.
You know things are either going really well or really poorly when people want to study your life. For poor Amy Winehouse it's the latter. The beleaguered, beehived one will now the subject of a university course.
The University of the West of Scotland will use the life of the 25-year-old singer as an example of the pitfalls of the music business. According to course leader Allan Dumbreck, "[Amy] is recognised as a multi-award-winning great artist. But the by-product of that lifestyle can be stress and illness. We would look at how the industry is often not a supporter of longevity."
How will they do that? With the help of Amy's record company, Island Records. Strangely, Island will provide the teaching materials for the course. Learning about the effed music business from the effed up music business? That's more whack than Winehouse herself.
