Is Jessica Simpson Playing Us?

A short short strategy?

So, this morning I saw this photo of Jessica Simpson, and I thought to myself, "Hot diggity, she looks great." OK, I didn't say "hot diggity," but I try not to swear in print unless it's absolutely necessary. At any rate, there I was mulling over Jess and her lovely and very fit gams when it occurred to me that I was being played.

The furor over those pics of Jessica (you know which ones I'm talking about) reached DEFCON 5 back in January - with everyone and their mother commenting on the mom jean mess. During those dark days, we felt for Jess. We really did.

No one should be commenting on someone's weight, particularly when that someone just put on the wrong pair of high-waisted trousers. But in the back of our minds we worried, worried that the worm would turn and Jessica would use this weighty issue to her advantage, appearing in revealing clothing to show the world (and ultimately tell the world - on the cover of Us magazine, perhaps) that she was back to her top form.

Is that what's happening here? Is Jessica's return to the Daisy Dukes just an attempt to keep us talking about her? Have I unwittingly fallen into her trap by writing this story? I think I may have.

I'll end this post now before I get in any deeper, but weigh in below on the short strategy.
