Jaden Smith Is the New Karate Kid
It runs in the family
We've been long-time fans of Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. And it looks like the whole family is getting in on the acting business. Will's 11-year-old son Jaden Smith will be starring with Jackie Chan in the upcoming remake of The Karate Kid!
Wow! It's a big enough deal to get any acting gig, but to star with Jackie Chan is a huge deal! Plus, The Karate Kid is so many people's favorite movie and we're pretty sure everyone is going to be extremely excited about this re-make.
Not to mention, Jackie had nothing but nice things to say about Jaden Smith; it sounds like Will and Jada did a good job raising him! Jackie says, "He took the training very seriously. I was very impressed with him... Jaden had a lot of respect for me as his teacher, even off the set... He is professional as many adult actors who have been in the business for years."
Will Smith is always so polite and kind, so it makes sense his son is already the same way. But it sounds like Jackie taught Jaden a thing or two also. According to Jackie, "His dad told me that Jaden had changed... When he takes his shoes off, he doesn't throw them in the corner, but puts them away neatly!" Maybe all children should become actors and work with Jackie Chan?
It sounds like Jaden had fun making the movie, too. He says, "I trained every day for four months with Master Wu [the film's fight coordinator]... We did a lot of stretching... Jackie taught me to ask, 'My left or camera left?' That helped." He sounds adorable and we can't wait to check the new Karate Kid out!
