James Van Der Beek has filed from divorce from his estranged wife Heather McComb, and we're not sure why we're surprised. The hottie actor had been separated from McComb since earlier this year, but paging back in the couple's photos, they looked really cute together.

The 32-year-old actor, who has appeared on shows like One Tree Hill and movies Rules of Attraction and Varsity Blues, married his actress wife in July 2003. They don't have any children. which should streamline things, but I wonder what happened after six years to make them decide on a clean break.

According to the tabs, the James and Heather are still friends, but you know you need to take that with a grain of salt! ("It was totally amicable and they remain good friends," said PEOPLE.) After all, "irreconcilable differences" isn't exactly puppies and rainbows.

James Van Der Beek filed for divorce from Heather McComb on Friday in Los Angeles. Just another Hollywood couple casualty.
