Jenna Bush Hager Debuts on Today Show
One half of the Bush twins makes it big.
Jenna Bush Hager has found a job that will make Mom and Pop proud. The 27 year-old former first-daughter has started a gig with NBC's Today Show, and for her first piece she got to interview an incredible little man.
As the Today Show's education correspondent, Hager tool her first assignment to 11 year-old public speaker Dalton Sherman. The kid has spoken in front of crowds of thousands, and he had a few tips for Hager's first assignment: he told her to enunciate.
After the interview aired, Hager's Today Show colleagues had nothing but praise for her first assignment.
"It's nerve-wracking what she just did," said host Matt Lauer. "You think about 6 million people watching you, and as they say, you never get a second chance to make a good first impression. I think she did a great job."
Lauer continued by saying Hager has "a great personality and a great presence, and she also has a passion for telling the kinds of stories she's interested in."
Even Al Roker got in some praise. "You can tell she really is a mix of her parents," he said. "She's got her mother's warmth and her father's kind of impishness or mischievousness – and fortunately, her mother's really good looks."
There's no word yet on what President Bush or his wife, Laura, thought of their daughter's interview, but we're sure she's made them proud. As long as she's not in politics, everything's gravy.
