Jessica Simpson Bails On Middle-Aged Elmo

Singing for Elmo's b-day? Jessica Simpson's career is ON FIRE, people.

If she were God she would have been there.

Last night, the stars came out to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Macy's in NYC, but one star was not-so-fashionably late. The event was over when Jessica Simpson arrived in an afghan-like get-up.

Jessica was scheduled to sing Happy Birthday to Sesame Street's Elmo (interesting gigs she's booking lately), but was detained by severe rains. Said Jess: “[I wish] I could be God and control the weather.” Mmkay, then.

You know what's more interesting than Jessica Simpson? Stuffed puppets. Elmo is now 35 years old. The furry red monster was originally called Baby Monster back when he was first introduced on Sesame Street in the '70s.
