John Mayer Wants to Propose to Katy Perry

We knew they were getting serious when she took him home for the holidays, but now word is that John Mayer is readying to propose to Katy Perry.

It's been a whirlwind romance for Mayer, a noted lothario who's dated everyone from Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift to Cameron Diaz and Jessica Simpson, and Perry who filed for divorce from husband Russell Brand on Dec. 30, 2011.

And, according to a report in More! magazine, ''John really likes the fact that Katy is so independent and not needy and clingy like the other girls he's dated. This is the first time John's felt so strongly about a girl. She's played her cards perfectly."  The source went on to say that,  ''They really do bring out the best in each other. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he proposed.''

Despite the fact that they've only been dating for half a year, the magazine says that Perry, 28, is ready to commit and to start a family with 35 year-old Mayer. "With John, she feels like herself. She want's to nest. She's gained a few pounds, is taking a much-needed break from work and perhaps is even getting her mind and body ready for pregnancy."
