John Mayer's New Video for "Who Says?"
John Mayer's getting stoned?
We gave you the first listen to John Mayer's newest song, "Who Says?" We really liked the song, but thought the lyrics weren't overly radio friendly. But now that the video is out, we're starting to fall in love a little bit more.
We seriously love "Who Says?" We think it's sweet, quiet, and calming. And the video goes along with it perfectly. The more we watch, the more we realize the song is probably detailing John Mayer's own life. He's always running around from city to city, putting on shows, hanging out with big groups, meeting new girls. And sometimes he wants to just get stoned.
In case you're worried about the song not getting any radio play because of the constant stoner talk (we are), here's what John Mayer said to Rolling Stone about the lyrics, "When I sing it, I do not think about marijuana - I think about walking around your house naked with a guitar. It's about being in control of the pleasure in your life." That makes perfect sense to us and we also really get that feeling from the video. Maybe getting stoned is a metaphor for doing whatever you want without millions of people watching you.
What do you think of John Mayer's music video for "Who Says?" The song has been confirmed to be the first single off his upcoming album Battle Studies, which is due out on November 17. We can't wait to hear more from him!
