John Travolta Sends Meal, Gifts to Jeff Conaway's Family
Travolta remembers his former co-star.
When news broke Friday that "Grease" star Jeff Conaway had passed, John Travolta was quick to voice up with a statement about his former co-star's death. Turns out the Travolta family also turned out with a big meal for Conaway -- here's why we love generous celebrities.
Jeff Conaway was the actor who passed away at age 60 on Friday after tumultuous struggles in his health and personal life. Over the last few years Conaway had been hospitalized with everything from fall injuries to a bacterial infection in his blood, and after allowing him to lie comatose for a week, Conaway's family opted to turn off the life support machines that were keeping him alive.
No matter how a person has struggled in life, a family decision of this nature would be incredibly emotional. That's why John Travolta, who starred in "Grease" with Jeff Conaway in 1978, showed his support to the Conaway family this weekend by making a touching and personal gesture. Word had it Tuesday morning that Travolta had flowers and food delivered to the home of Conaway's parents; and Jeff's sister confirmed that indeed John Travolta had done the good deed over the weekend.

John Travolta certainly knows the heartache of losing a family member, after the actor's son Jett died of a seizure in January 2009. It warms the heart to see Travolta extend a warm hand to another family in need, and it's clear Jeff Conaway's former colleagues are feeling a fit of nostagia today. Conaway's manager Phil Brock said in a statement, "We loved Jeff as a person, respected him as a consummate performer and entertainer. Somewhere in heaven, somebody is getting a hickey from Kenickie."
Okay, maybe not a hickey but at the very least, we hope the Conaway family is feeling a lot of love. Jeff's sister says they plan to cremate his body after the coroner completes examinations.
