Jordin Sparks Thinks Love is Like a Battlefield
Song of the day
I don't think Jordin Sparks gets enough credit. I'll admit, I wasn't her biggest fan when she was on American Idol, but Jordin has come a long long way. And I can't be the only one who has her song "Battlefield" stuck in my head non-stop!
I wasn't a big fan of Jordin Sparks while she was on American Idol because I just thought she was too young and a bit boring. Like she hadn't found herself yet. But now? Now, it's totally clear that she knows who she is and isn't afraid to show it. I started liking her when she sang "No Air" with Chris Brown.
When I first heard "Battlefield," I didn't love it. I was reminded way too much Pat Benatar's "Love is a Battlefield." Of course it sounds nothing like it; the names are just way too similar. But Jordin's song about the similie of love being a battlefield is way different than Pat's, while being just as upbeat and fun.
The lyrics are full of cheesy-ness, but in the most fantastic way: "Both hands tied behind my back with nothing/Oh no, these times when we climb so fast to fall again/I don't wanna fall for it now/I never meant to start a war/You know I never wanna hurt you/Don't even know what we're fighting for/Why does love always feel like a battlefield, a battlefield, a battlefield?/I guess you better go and get your armor."
And now I'm a Jordin Sparks convert and can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
