Kara DioGuardi "Mourning" Loss of Paula Abdul

American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi has said she is "mourning" the loss of her pal Paula Abdul after she left the show. Kara, 35, was good friends with Paula, 47, who recently announced she was leaving the show after eight years as a judge.

Kara said: "I'm in black because I'm mourning her [Paula] leaving. She was the heart of the show. She was incredibly nurturing to the contestants and was like that for me." Even 'Mr Nasty' judge Simon Cowell admitted he was sad at Paula's departure, he said: "She was my best buddy on the show and you only realise how much you miss somebody when they are not there. I am sad."
