Kat Von D Explains Why She's Jesse James' Type

Kat Von D getting too bold in new interviews...

The Jesse James/Kat Von D rumors that erupted after their Las Vegas date last weekend were enough to make us queasy...and if Kat Von D keeps handling the story with this little sensitivity, we're never going to watch her on TV again! Here's what Kat told a radio show Thursday morning on why her romance with Jesse looks promising -- and she doesn't care what he's done in the past.

No, it's not their off-the-wall, borderline-deviant personalities that make Jesse James and Kat Von D a good pair, says Kat: "Just because I have tattoos doesn't mean, 'Oh, you guys are a perfect match,'" she told the Kevin & Bean radio show on L.A.'s KROQ-FM. "I think that I'm his type on a different level than people would assume."

So what did bring Jesse and Kat Von D together? She claims they connected over work years ago: "I've known Jesse since I was 22, actually," Kat said. "We've always been friends, you know? ... He had his show on Discovery, that's how we met. I was looking for some advice when I first started on 'Miami Ink.'"

And People.com quotes Kat Von D saying that she can actually relate to the public scandal Jesse James has endured in the last five months: "I am a believer that we're all human and we're all capable of making mistakes," she said. "I think if I were to be crucified for my drug addiction three years ago now, it would be hard to live with that. I'm sober now, and it's awesome. But I have made mistakes, too. ... I've got a lot of respect for Jesse and how he handled it."
