We reported Tuesday morning on the Mexican holiday that Kate Gosselin took alone with her bodyguard Steve Neild. Clearly these days Neild's wife is less visible than ever...and so is his wedding band. Has Kate Gosselin's security situation turned into a ring of passion? We investigate.

In the near-year and a half that Kate Gosselin has been spotted around the country -- and at times, the world -- with bodyguard Steve Neild, Gosselin's insisted that she's simply best friends with Steve and his wife and that she couldn't have gotten through her divorce without them.

In turn Neild's wife Gina has kept a rather low profile, showing her face for the cameras only once in the height of drama surrounding the Gosselin divorce. Today, however, there are reports that Gina Neild is a "one-time" friend of Kate Gosselin -- meaning former friend, friends -- and while husband Steve was once very clear to the cameras about his marital status, there's now no clue that he's still taken.

Indeed Steve Neild's wedding band, once prominent in pictures, has gone missing. We first noticed this when Gosselin turned up for Jimmy Fallon's Emmys party (photo above is from that night), and now in Kate Gosselin's presence Neild is consistently naked-handed.

Meanwhile we were part wrong in Tuesday's report -- yes, Gosselin has been on holiday in Mexico (yes, with Steve Neild), but the pair also stopped for a weekend getaway in New York for Sept. 11 weekend. Before breaking out her busty bikini and halter tops in Cabo, she gave Steve Neild a little show in a red satin top and short skirt. Scandal!
